Every child deserves a safe place to call home, someone who believes in them, and the opportunity to feel secure, valued, and hopeful about their future.

But for many children and young people, those basic needs are not guaranteed.

Some are navigating the foster care system after experiencing trauma, instability, or circumstances beyond their control. Others are struggling at school while facing homelessness, poverty, family instability, or a lack of access to mental health resources. And sometimes, something as simple as not having clean clothes, food, or basic hygiene supplies can become another barrier standing between a young person and their ability to focus, connect with others, and feel confident at school.

We believe that meeting the whole child means more than addressing just one need.

Through His Ideas, Inc., our two core programs—Children First Foster Family Agency and Solutions for Youth—create a continuous circle of care for vulnerable children, teens, and young adults.

A Safe Place to Call Home

Since 1999, Children First Foster Family Agency has worked to provide children in foster care with a stable, nurturing alternative to institutional care.

Our team recruits, trains, and supports Resource Families who open their homes and their hearts to children who need a safe place to belong. Our social workers work alongside families and children to understand their individual needs, establish goals, and help create a path toward permanency—whether that means reunification, guardianship, or adoption.

But a safe home is only one part of healing.

More Than a Bike. A Moment That Matters.

For a child in foster care, receiving a brand-new bicycle can mean so much more than having something to ride. It can mean freedom, independence, belonging, and the simple joy of being a kid.

Through Children First Foster Family Agency’s Dreams on Wheels Bike Drive program, we provide new bicycles to foster youth who may have never owned one of their own. Your donation helps make sure these children have the opportunity to experience the excitement of choosing a bike, taking that first ride, and having something that is truly theirs.

Helping Young People Find Their Way Forward

We know that mental and emotional well-being can be deeply affected when a young person is worried about where their next meal is coming from, doesn't have clean clothes, or is trying to navigate school without basic necessities.

That is why we created the Solutions for Youth Fund.

Through this fund, we respond to urgent needs by providing things such as food kits, hygiene supplies, clothing, shoes, and other essential items to unhoused and/or economically disadvantaged youth.

These may seem like small things, but to a young person who is struggling, they can make a tremendous difference.

When a student has the basic necessities they need, they can walk into school with greater confidence. They can focus on learning instead of worrying about whether other students will notice what they're wearing or whether they will have enough to eat. Removing these immediate barriers can help create a stronger foundation for their emotional health, relationships, and education.
