Shasta Chapter has been serving Shasta, Lassen, Modoc, and Siskiyou counties since 1983. We support California Native Plant Society’s mission to protect California’s native plants and their natural habitats, today and into the future, through science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy.
Your donation to CNPS-Shasta Chapter helps fund the following:
- Distribution of the shasta-cnps.org newsletter/blog and other member communications.
- Plant propagation and our Spring and Fall plant sales (our major fundraiser).
- Scholarships to budding botanists.
- Grants to Shasta College horticulture students to help grow, tend, and learn about our nursery plants.
- Presentations and workshops, open to the public.
- Grants to educational groups that are creating native plant gardens, including gardens at local schools.
- Maintenance of the Matson Mowder Howe Celebration Garden at the Carter House in Caldwell Park.
There are many reasons to love California native plants. They are amazingly beautiful and diverse. They provide food and habitat for local species of insects, birds and other wildlife. Once established in the garden, native plants require less water than lawns and other traditional landscape plants.
Please come to our plant sales and add more native plants to your garden; or better yet, get involved with our propagation efforts and help us grow plants. You can also attend our fieldtrips and events to learn about local nature. Email shastacnps@gmail.com for more info.
