Friends of the Intermountain Libraries, Inc. [FOIL] was established as a non profit 501[c]3 organization in 1989.   It promoted public libraries in the Intermountain area after the closure of the Shasta County Public Libraries and the eventual reopening of only three branches.  Burney is located in Northern California in a small rural mountain area.

FOIL is an all volunteer organization that raises funds for books and materials for the Burney Library along with FOIL's operating expenses.  FOIL operates a bookstore that opens on Fridays to help in our fundraising efforts.  In addition to Giving Tuesday, FOIL reaches out to individuals and local businesses for financial donations; applies for grants; holds fundraisers throughout the year.

Our library provides a place for all individuals ~ young and old ~ to gather for learning and exploring new interests besides the regular benefits of a library.  Burney is privileged to have a delightful and helpful librarian " HEIDI " to assistant anyone that enters our wonderful building.  Our library continues to expand its book collection in addition to various new programs.  The Intermountain community includes the vast area from Old Station to Round Mountain and east to McArthur.

Thank you for your interest in our local Burney Library.
