We're FIRST TIME PARTICPANTS in North State Giving Tuesday!

We would like to introduce ourselves as the Hornbrook Community Association (HCA), a non-profit organization working for the benefit of our small but mighty town in far Northern California. 

Our goal for the community of about 300 people is to support and encourage the improvement and development of Hornbrook, impacted by a devastating fire in 2018. We’re challenged by a poverty rate of 45% and food scarcity for our families.

Key to our recovery from the fire has been the establishment of Hornbrook Hall, now a center for community activities and events that foster connection and socialization to our area residents. We are not affiliated with any church, religion or political party, nor are we affiliated with the state or national Grange organization, as some may assume. A group of engaged volunteers help with building maintenance, event planning, and offer a popular “Free Friday Breakfast" that serves an average of 40 families and individuals each week. A seven member Board of Directors meets regularly to establish priorities for our organization’s development.

To date, our operational costs are funded by grants, monetary donations and in-kind services from people and organizations like yours, but WE DREAM BIG and want to do more for our community.

This brings us to extend an invitation to you to partner with us to help fulfill our wish list:

• Fill our food pantry and foster the return of senior food distribution programs to Hornbrook

• Establish a Community Help Fund

• Purchase a container for out-building storage ($5,000!)

• Continue work on our Community Garden on Hornbrook Hall’s available property 

• Purchase equipment for use in our licensed Low Power FM Broadcast Station

• Build a shelter for public transportation users at the sole “Stage Stop” in town ($1,200)

• Expand the hours of operation of Hornbrook Hall 

• Enhance our organization’s online presence

• Refurbish our WELCOME TO HORNBROOK sign
