$5,000 Goal
Established in 1920 as women were gaining the right to vote, the League of Women Voters is one of the nation's most respected community based organizations. In addition, to our work in elections, which includes running candidate forums, registering voters, and holding educational meetings on ballot initiatives, League volunteers work on issues of local importance like education, housing, and resource use.
The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working on vital issues of concern to the public.
REGISTERING VOTERS AT SENIOR RESIDENCES

REGISTERING VOTERS AT SHASTA COLLEGE
This year the League is participating in the North State Giving Tuesday event to raise $5000 to Upgrade our Voter Services, such as electronic communication tools. In addition, we will use donations to fund 1 or 2 internships to local high school/college students to work with League members to determine the most effective mechanisms to engage and inform young voters in the democratic process. Accurate and timely information about elected government positions, the election process, and ballot issues like homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health, and the environment, especially water resources, can aid every Shasta County citizen in making voting decisions that benefit them, their families, and their community. The League of Women Voters of the Redding Area has a mission that includes providing such information.
Unfortunately, our resources have lagged behind the need. If successful, the funds obtained through this campaign will allow the League to modernize and upgrade the quality of its voter services, including creating online information and updating and adopting digital communication systems that we could use to live stream forums and provide training to volunteers, such as forum moderators. The League would do this by engaging local firms and, if possible, computer and information systems students from Shasta College.
Please consider donating so we can achieve our goals. Go to Northstategives.org band put “League” in the find organizations search box. Also many thanks, from the League and all the voters of Shasta County for your support.
