Liberty Arts Gallery

Liberty Painting Corporation, DBA Liberty Arts, is a small non-profit bringing art, cultural events, and arts education to Siskiyou County for 17 years. We have two locations; a gallery and our education studio, both in historical downtown Yreka. Our mission is “To serve a charitable and educational purpose by enriching the cultural heritage and communications among all peoples of the world through creations of works of fine arts and other art forms.” 

Liberty Arts works with artists and art organizations throughout the county and is unique in offering Explorations, the only arts education program in the county where students can receive a docent tour in a fine arts gallery, and have a dynamic discussion about the art, the artists, and their processes and culture. After the gallery tour and discussion, students move to our studio to create a hands on art project related to the theme or processes highlighted in the exhibition they saw. Since opening our doors, Liberty Arts has hosted over 14,465 students visits. 

OUR NEEDS

Our organization had close to 1,200 student visits in 2024. Unfortunately, at the end of that year, a reduction in the state arts budget led to the loss of our primary funding for the Explorations program. As a result, 35% fewer students were able to enjoy our program.

The cost to provide this program is approximately $15 per student visit, covering administrative costs, rent, instructor salaries, and materials. Our fundraising goal is to raise enough money to serve an additional 400 students this school year. 

OUR VISION:

1. Exhibit works from a broad base of individuals and groups in our community, and to offer a venue to guest artists bringing new work and ideas to Siskiyou County.
2. Provide educational outreach programs, workshop space and facilities for artists, students and community members.
3. Broaden awareness of cultural achievements through performance and exhibition.
4. Offer community events, which expand appreciation of cinematography, videography and photography through exhibition, lecture and informal discussion.
