The mission of the McCloud Heritage Junction Museum is to secure, preserve, and educate visitors on the history of McCloud and its surrounding region as an evolving community in the frontier of Northern California. During its "heyday", from the late 19th century through the 1960s, McCloud was at the center of an extensive corporate timber management, milling and railroad enterprise (please click on the Our Story tab to learn more).  In 1985, local citizens passionate about preserving and sharing the McCloud story established the Museum to collect, preserve, and curate artifacts and images documenting life in this progressive company town, in its logging camps and on its connecting railroad network.  Five years later, 17 buildings in town were added to the National Register of Historic Places (one of which, the Railroad Depot, was later destroyed by fire).

Corliss Steam EngineThe inhabitants of the McCloud region played an exceptionally important role in the frontier history of northern California; many of the Museum's docents are long-time McCloudians, or at least know a few, and they are happy to share memories and their knowledge of this region's rich legacy!

The McCloud Heritage Junction Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and depends completely on the generosity of visitors and donors to maintain and safeguard its collections, meet operational expenses, and enable projects to revitalize its displays. Please help us continue to fulfill our mission!
