Mt Shasta Museum Association Inc

This year, Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum is celebrating 43 years of serving our community with free admission for all. 

We do not charge admission, because we want everyone to experience our fun, interesting museum.  We make all of our visitors - tourists and residents alike - feel welcome and included. 

We are an involved, aware, and vital part of the community.  Our museum is a center for learning.  We continue to expand our understanding of the area by broadening our research, addressing timely issues, and increasing our knowledge of all cultures.  We host monthly presentations about important topics and install new displays yearly.  This year, we hosted 8 Family Fun Days, which were very informative and fun for all.

Last year, we raised funds to repair the roof on our 1910 historic fish hatchery building.  In the spring of 2026, we hired a company to take out the old roof insulation and replace it, upgrading to a higher level of protection from heat and cold.  They repaired some holes in the roof too.  It was a big project, and we have noticed an improvement in our energy costs.   They also installed new screws in our metal roof, and this will prevent leaks from rain and snow. 

We replaced the front door.  The old front door was heavy and the latch was awkward, making it difficult for some people to enter.  The new door is ADA compliant and easy to open.

In partnership with Audubon Society, we are installing a native plant pollinator garden.

We are continuing with the maintenance of this historic building, while providing a quality experience for our visitors.   

On the list for 2027 is repairing the 100-year old siding, with new caulking and paint too.
