Support our Be•le Bo•m - Land Back Initiative! Help us raise $20,000 toward our goal!

We need to raise $1,414,000 to purchase 1,200 acres of ranch land for a sister site to the Əl Kulus: Community Resilience Center in Bella Vista. With oaks and woodlands, space for cultural practices such as gathering and processing acorns, this is the perfect property for our land lab, and we need to secure the site.

The Ranch will be the headquarters for our TEK (Traditional Ecological Knowledge) Land Management Team, a place to plant healthy food and native plant gardens, with infrastructure to house our digital fabrication lab and food and fiber shed - a regenerative, culturally-centered, community-based economic development center - to house youth and community arts and culture programs, and more.

Our goal is to create a regenerative, culturally-centered, community-based economic development center

This space would holistically fulfill existing Indigenous and regenerative-economy community needs to have community space for meeting and gathering, organizing and learning. We will be able to incubate and support micro-manufacturing and economic development, create a Traditional Ecological Knowledge land restoration, management and fuel reduction team, with the added potential to act as “resiliency hubs” for relief and recovery in times of emergency.

”Acornomics”, a localized, regenerative economic concept reflects the relationship of reciprocity between Native Peoples and our local ecosystem that each year produces thousands of pounds of acorns, a primary food source of our region. Only through human care and tending of the landscape were large stands of healthy oaks sustained. Development, destruction, disease and catastrophic fire-prone lands choked by brush reduce the productivity and resilience of the oaks. Like our human community, the acorns and oaks are the literal and metaphorical sources of sustenance who are in need of care and tending. Through job creation and place making, we would reinstate our traditional role as land caretakers and cultivators in ways that are not exploitive of the Earth or our labor. Əl Kulus (The Granary) and the 1,200 acre ranch would be models of cooperative collectivity we seek to develop.
