Help a Hen and become an Honorary Land Steward! Donate to Dotty's Mobile Coop Campaign!

Meet Dotty – a hen like no other. While her sisters scratch politely in the yard, Dotty flies the coop daily to find the freshest greens. She's got a spirit of adventure, a lust for freedom, and a dream to take her sister hens – and Kevin the rooster – out on the road in a deluxe, mobile coop. Picture it: a comfy chicken caravan rolling across the grass, giving the flock access to lush pastures and daily joy rides as they spread their chicken goodness upon the land.

Your donation helps Dotty & the Mobile Chicken Land Crew to:

• Dine on fresh green grasses

• Savor (and control) insects

• Aerate, enrich and restore the soil

• Lay luscious, nutrient-rich eggs (well... not Kevin) and provide a healthy protein source for the Foodways Program

• Support land restoration and food sovereignty!

We love our chickens, and they give us many reasons to smile. But they are actually performing an important role in helping us to restore the land and develop healthy foods for our community. They are real land stewards (though that's not the way you say that in chicken language). When you support Dotty, the Mobile Chicken Land Crew and us, you are part of our efforts and become an honorary Land Steward.

Become an honorary land steward and help us reach our mobile chicken coop campaign goal!

With help from folks like you, we secured and steward two key land parcels:
Wenem To•s means "Middle Place" in Wintu. This is the headquarters for our TEK (Traditional Ecological Knowledge) Land Management Team, a place to plant healthy food and native plant gardens, with infrastructure to house our digital fabrication lab and food and fiber shed  - a regenerative, culturally-centered, community-based economic development center - for youth and community arts and culture programs, and more.

With oaks and woodlands, space for cultural practices such as gathering and processing acorns, this is the perfect property for our land lab. We are already hard at work to stop soil erosion, build new, healthy soil, clean up waterways, and support native plant and animal communities.

Əl Kulus means "The Granary" in Wintu. This place on 299E in Bella Vista is where we are preparing and planning a Community Resilience Center. This will be a community center year-round and will act as a Community Resilience Center in times of emergency. This location on the 299E corridor between Burney and Redding is a perfect spot for a possible coffee shop/artisan space and is already a site for our community practice garden.

Dotty is a real hen

We've clipped her wing, but she still escapes daily. She really does lay an egg outside of the chicken run (on a soft outdoor couch on the back deck - same place every day)! She flies out and puts herself back in if we don't.
