One Future at a Time

One Future at a Time's mission, working in impoverished communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, is to foster personal empowerment by providing access to health care, education, and capacity building that would be otherwise unavailable or unaffordable. Having begun working in 2007 in South Africa and later expanding into Uganda, Rwanda, and Liberia, One Future at a Time registered officially as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2011 and has to date served over 2,400 unique beneficiaries with direct services including: medical care encompassing everything from primary care to heart surgeries; routine dental care, oral surgeries and orthodontics; vision care; scholarships providing access to primary through tertiary and vocational education; emergency clothing, housing, utilities, food, and transportation (especially during two years of dire need for COVID lockdown relief); and economic opportunities for creating businesses for local entrepreneurs as well as for artists and craftspeople. The Director lives in Africa part of the year and has become a mentor, friend, and "mom" to countless numbers of children and youth in the communities where the organization works.
