What is One SAFE Place?

One SAFE Place (OSP) provides comprehensive, trauma-informed services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, trafficking and exploitation, and community violence in Shasta County. Our team works to provide safety, healing, and hope for individuals and families in crisis.

The clients OSP serves are predominantly comprised of men, women, and children of overburdened single-income households, leaving them with limited opportunities for sustainability and processing the profound trauma they have endured. These survivors have escaped lives marked by years of abuse and isolation, and they carry the heavy burden of unresolved grief, PTSD, anxiety, and other debilitating symptoms. One SAFE Place strives to end the cycle of violence and trauma through crisis intervention and community education.

Our Programs:

Emergency Shelter – As the only domestic violence and rape crisis center in Shasta County, OSP offers 24/7, year-round safe housing for individuals and families fleeing abuse. The shelter provides food, clothing, and essentials, along with wraparound services such as crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and connections to transitional housing. In 2024, the shelter provided over 6,300 nights of safe housing to survivors and their children.

Crisis Hotline & Hospital Response –  OSP's 24/7 crisis hotline and in-person hospital advocacy ensure immediate, compassionate support at any hour. Trained advocates provide safety planning, crisis counseling, and referrals to additional services, standing beside survivors from their first call through recovery.

Legal Services – Survivors receive guidance and support in obtaining restraining orders, custody agreements, and other protective measures. Legal advocates ensure that every survivor has access to justice, helping them navigate complex court systems safely and confidently while reclaiming their sense of control.

Crisis Intake & Advocacy – The intake team is often the first point of contact for survivors seeking help. Advocates listen, assess needs, and develop personalized safety plans, offering emotional support, case management, and connection to long-term resources. Through partnership with Arch Collaborative, advocates also ensure the safety and stability of children impacted by violence.

Transitional Housing – Transitional housing bridges the gap between emergency shelter and independent living. Survivors and their families can stay between 6 and 24 months, gaining the stability needed to rebuild their lives. Residents receive case management, counseling, life-skills education, and housing navigation support to help them achieve long-term independence. These programs break cycles of violence and poverty by addressing barriers such as employment, financial security, and housing access.

Community Prevention & Education – OSP’s prevention programs stop violence before it starts by addressing the root causes of abuse and promoting healthy relationships. In schools, educators teach youth about consent, boundaries, and digital safety, while community workshops equip parents, teachers, and organizations to recognize warning signs and respond safely. Through collaboration with schools, service providers, and civic partners, these programs foster resilience, empower bystanders, and create lasting culture change built on respect, equity, and non-violence.

What is Arch Collaborative?

One SAFE Place and Children’s Legacy Center are separate legal entities. Arch Collaborative is a fictitious business name (DBA) of Children’s Legacy Center. Under the DBA Arch Collaborative and a signed management services agreement, Children’s Legacy Center assists One SAFE Place with operations and enhances OSP’s impact. By creating Arch Collaborative and working alongside other organizations with similar heartbeats, we have created a network of organizations that respond effectively to trauma, violence, and exploitation in our community while maintaining the legal status of each organization.

Arch Collaborative represents more than a rebranded name; it speaks to our determination to partner well to ensure a holistic continuum of care to reach more individuals and respond to emerging needs with greater agility. We’re grateful for the support of our community and excited to continue building a safer, more supportive Shasta County.
