Riverfront Playhouse's mission is to provide a stage for all within our community
to explore, experience, and learn all aspects of live theatre.
- 44 years ago, on July 10, 1981, Riverfront Playhouse opened with its first production, "SeeSaw." We are the region’s longest continually operating, all volunteer, community theatre.
- We work hard to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported. We have created a place to share stories, a place to gather together, a place to escape, and most importantly, a place to play.
- Riverfront Playhouse has produced over 300 mainstage productions. Riverfront encourages budding playwrights via Playwright's Night Out and Playwright's Night Out, Jr., offers Children's Theatre Summer Camp, puts on small stage productions with "Theatre on the Side," and is a perfect smaller venue for film. Other community organizations use Riverfront's facility for presenting their own films and productions.
We are always working to upgrade and make improvements to the theatre.
This year our GIVING TUESDAY goals are:
-
TO RAISE THE ROOF! RIVERFRONT PLAYHOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1988 AND THE ORIGINAL ROOFING IS STILL IN PLACE.
- Since we occupied the building in 2021 numerous leaks have been identified and fixed. Each leak has resulted in damage to the interior of the building. There is visible water damage to multiple ceiling tiles in the green room, set shop, lounge and kitchen. Water has actually run down interior walls by the restrooms as well as onto theatre seats.
- The harsh reality is that the remaining areas of original roof need to be replaced as son as possible to prohibit more damage to the theatre.
- HELP RIVERFRONT AND PUT A TILE ON THE ROOF. SEE THE VIDEO AND PICTURE BELOW.
Your donation and generosity gives us the opportunity to carry out the vision of our great theatre, and helps us continue the very thing our founders sought out to do. From everyone at Riverfront Playhouse to you, thank you for your generosity and love for your community.
