Who Are We

The Shasta Library Foundation's purpose is to enhance the services and resources of the Shasta Public Libraries today and for generations to come. We provide critical support to the Shasta Public Libraries resulting in free programs, resources, and services available to adults, children, and youth in Shasta County. Our library serves as a hub for community engagement and lifelong learning, promoting literacy and opportunities to all within our community.

With your support, you are helping create an environment where individuals can learn, grow, and ultimately lead more fulfilling lives.

We are so grateful to those that have supported and continue to support the Shasta Public Libraries through the Shasta Library Foundation. It is because of you that the library is able to provide these amazing opportunities to all.

History of the Shasta Library Foundation

After the Shasta County Library System had to close their doors in 1987 due to lack of funding, something had to be done in order to bring our libraries back. In 1988, Shasta County reopened three branches-Redding, Burney and Anderson-from various funding resources. In 1991, the Shasta Library Foundation was established in response to a continuing weak financial base with the purpose of providing funding stability and enhancing the services and resources of the library through the creation of a permanent endowment after.
