Shasta Land Trust

A nonprofit organization

$6,087 raised by 62 donors

Since 1998, the Shasta Land Trust has conserved over 50,000 acres of wildlife habitat, forest, open space, agricultural, and recreational land, and 151 miles of waterways protected from shoreline development.

As an accredited land trust and non-profit organization, the Shasta Land Trust has worked with willing landowners, partners, local communities, and donors to achieve meaningful and lasting conservation of local lands. The scenic beauty, rich natural resources, and open spaces of Shasta County are essential to the health and vibrancy of our families and local communities.

Land loss due to development is a significant threat to our environment, public health, and community. In this time of unprecedented urban growth, we have a rapidly declining window of opportunity to protect the places we love the most.

Conservation Impact & Goal

As an organization, we strive to strategically protect 100,000 acres, up from 50,000+ acres today, through conservation easements, sustained by support from our community. This ambitious yet necessary goal will more than double our total conservation acreage, protecting local agriculture, open lands for recreation, healthy ecosystems, and clean air and water in our community.

Community Benefits of Land Conservation

Conserved land provides many benefits to our community. Clean drinking water, fresh air, carbon sequestration as a tool against climate change, strong local food networks, and abundant recreational opportunities are just a few of the benefits seen in our lifetime, with an immeasurable impact on future generations. These lands are necessary for our survival, from the water we drink, to the food we eat. By protecting our region, rich with freshwater rivers, lakes, forests, and working ranches and farms, we can ensure a more resilient, healthy, and inhabitable future.

Nature Needs Your Help

We ask for your support at this critical time to ensure that our woodlands and forests, precious waterways, working ranches, and recreational areas remain safe from development - our future depends on it.

What is gone can never be replaced, but we have the power to ensure that our legacy is providing for a better tomorrow.

Together we can protect the incredible lands that we know and call home.
