$100,000 Goal

Stillwater Cat Haven began in the year 2000, received its non-profit status in 2011. Through Dec 2023 as a non-profit we had completed 2,029 TNR spay/neuters, located in all of our surrounding communities.  In Redding we had active colony projects, one where 110 were trapped at the Higgins property and Park Plaza on Churn Creek between Cypress and Hartnell, a second site which had 25 cats and a third with 15. We continue to monitor colony sites with supplemental food and water at 11 Redding sites.  And we monitor at 15 sites in Anderson.

We have adopted 592 cats that are conditioned to human contact, many from events at Petsmart in Redding.  Most of these adopted came from non-owned community cats as kittens, abandoned cats who were missing their human contact, or from tamed ferals who develop a desire for pet companionship with people.  Our sanctuary home in the County varies in size and contains 110 cats currently. We do have volunteer part-time help at the home sanctuary and monitored sites.  Our non-profit ownership has been the primary financial resource that has become limited in this current time.  We did have a Best Friends grant supplementing all but $10.00 of each TNR surgery.

This is the current situation at Stillwater Cat Haven.  We do have a significant history of efforts in the stabilization of community cat colonies.  But the founders are now 84 and our physical, mental, and finances have significant limitations.  Our retirement funds that have supported this non-profit effort are exhausted.  We have publicized our current situation and have received significant public donations of supplies and financial help, and our current survival efforts continue because of this support.  This support has been a great comfort to the efforts and achievements of our 25 years of activities.

This Giving Tuesday is very important to our continued effort.  In an ideal world we could be retiring with others able to continue these efforts.  A lesser option is to be able to continue as we have, but with additional financial and material support from our community of caring citizens.
