About The TAG Foundation

When a baby dies, families are left facing a loss they never imagined—and often decisions, expenses, and questions they never expected to face.

The TAG Foundation was created to help carry some of that burden.

Why TAG Exists

The TAG Foundation was created in honor of our founder's daughter, Torvi Ann Gundersen, who died in 2019.

After Torvi died, our founder began looking for support. She asked the hospital, her doctors, and anyone she could think of where she could turn for help.

She was looking for someone who understood this kind of loss. Someone who could help her find her way through an experience she had never imagined facing.

There was nothing local.

No clear place to start. No one person she could turn to and say, “I don't know what I need. Can you help me figure it out?”

Then came the time to make Torvi's final arrangements.

An already devastating experience became even harder because of the lack of support and communication our family experienced. At one point, a funeral home employee told our founder, “I'm sorry, I don't do this very often,” referring to working with babies.

This isn't every family's experience. It was ours.

And those experiences left our founder with a question:

Could we make one part of this experience a little easier for the next family?

That question became The TAG Foundation.

A Place to Start

Today, TAG supports families after the death of a baby both emotionally and financially.

We believe families shouldn't have to know exactly what they need before they can find support.

Sometimes, they just need a place to start.

TAG helps families find bereavement resources, support organizations, healing opportunities, and other resources based on what they're looking for. We want families to know that someone is in their corner—that they don't have to figure everything out alone.

We also provide tangible financial support through programs designed around some of the practical needs families may face after losing a baby.

Our programs include final-arrangement assistance, our Urn Giving Program, the Sibling Book Program, and healing retreat scholarships.

Each program looks a little different because every family's needs can look different.

But the purpose is the same: to make one part of what comes next a little easier.

You Are Not Alone

Pregnancy and infant loss can be incredibly isolating.

Many people have never experienced it themselves. And even when someone has, loss is often something we don't talk about enough.

Parents can find themselves surrounded by people who care deeply about them but still don't understand what it feels like to lose a baby.

That's one reason TAG believes in talking about it.

We talk about babies who died. We remember them. We share their stories. And we create space for bereaved families to share theirs.

Because sometimes knowing that someone else understands can be a form of support all on its own.

You don't have to know what you need. You just need to know you need support.

TAG wants to be a place where families can start.

Why Awareness Matters

There are families who need support who don't know TAG exists yet.

We've seen how quickly the need can surface when families learn that resources are available to them. Sometimes the greatest barrier isn't whether help exists—it's knowing where to find it.

That's why TAG isn't only about providing assistance to the families who reach out to us today.

It's also about making sure the next family knows where to turn.

We want more families to know TAG exists. We want them to know they can reach out even if they aren't sure what they need. And we want to have the resources to say yes when they do.

Why It Matters

We know that none of these things can change what happened.

But maybe one part of what comes next can be a little easier.

A family shouldn't have to carry every financial burden alone while they are grieving their baby. And they shouldn't have to navigate the world of grief completely on their own, wondering where to turn or whether anyone understands.

The TAG Foundation was created in Torvi's memory, with the hope that her legacy can help make an unbearable experience a little less difficult for another family.

You can't change what happened to a family.
But you can help make one part of what comes next a little easier.

Help TAG Say Yes.
