The Trails and Bikeways Council of Greater Redding is a non-profit charitable organization. Its members are local citizens who believe that trails and bikeways benefit the health, safety, and happiness of people, invigorate the local economy, and preserve valuable habitat and history. Our mission is to make these shared beliefs a reality by contributing to the development of a world-class trails and bikeways system that connects Redding neighborhoods with each other and with the surrounding area.
We also seek to make recreation more fun by sharing trail information and maps at the yearly Earth Day celebration and other outdoor/trail events as well as our membership pizza meetings that cover trail news and upcoming events. We are hosting a new speaker series called, Dare To Explore, covering some of the unusual and out of the ordinary outdoor trail experiences.
This year marks our third year of the TBC Legacy Program where we recognize Trailblazers who have helped build, utilize, and promote trails in our community. This program provides for the placement of a trail side Picnic table or bench at a trail vista point, trail junction, or other notable trail site.
Our next trailside picnic table will be at the beginning of Clear Creek Preserve and will honor trailblazer Diane Madgic for her over 30 year commitment to hiking and trails. We call this project a legacy program because every table or bench has a plaque that honors a significant contributor to our local trail system. The site selection and nominations are community driven. The TBC encourages those who have a person or site deserving of recognition to please contact us via our website.
We are raising money so we can continue to place trail side picnic tables or benches at notable sites.
The Trails and Bikeways council volunteers participate in Quarterly Westside Cleans Ups and have partnered with the Redding Trail Alliance (RTA) to support trail maintenance with the purchase of an e-bike and the Horsetown Preserve in a annual Fall trail clean up.
TBC volunteers have contributed 25 years of shared vision alongside other 501c3 organizations in helping make our local trail system one of the finest in the nation.
All of these activities could not be accomplished without your support.
To learn more about our activities please check out our Facebook page at Trails and Bikeways Council of Greater Redding or join us at a TBC membership meetings.
