Trinity Animal Shelter Auxiliary (TASA) is dedicated to raising funds for the health and well being of the animals housed at the Trinity County Animal Shelter. These funds go to various things, including enhancing facilities there, supporting spay and neuter programs to make it more affordable for the public, medical bills for those that need it, and raising public awareness to humane issues and responsible pet ownership. Most importantly, last year due to lack of funding our shelter was going to actually close, but TASA stepped in and signed an MOU with the county, and due to these efforts, our shelter is able to remain open. Every dollar donated really does make a difference!!

TASA was established in 1994 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the welfare of the animals at the Trinity County Animal Shelter (TCAS) and in the greater community. We are 100% volunteer based and we help fund several programs for and through the shelter:

• Spay/neuter for shelter animals (one of these being through a volunteer program to help keep costs down for the public)
• TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) for our feral cat populations
• Education for children about animal welfare and the importance of spay/neuter

Our hearts are deeply embedded in helping the stray and abandoned animals that are brought into the Trinity County Animal Shelter. Many require medical assistance upon arrival - broken limbs, malnutrition, neonates and heartworm treatment are just a few examples of cases that TASA covers the costs for. We are forever thankful to our Trinity veterinarians whom offer their services at a reduced cost so that TASA can assist as many animals as possible every year.

In 2024 TASA: 

• Spayed/Neutered 26 Shelter Animals 
• Issued Spay/Neuter Vouchers for 31 Adopted Dogs & 43 Adopted Cats 
• Spay/Neutered 10 Dogs & 14 Cats for low-income families
• Spayed/Neutered 161 Feral Cats (TNR)
• Paid for the veterinary medical care of a multitude of animals at Trinity County Animal Shelter 
• Assisted the County financially to keep the Adoption Program open at the Trinity County Animal Shelter

TASA holds several fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds for the work we do. We grow each year and continue to assist more and more animals in need. We're always looking for more members so please reach out if you are interested in joining, or just come to a meeting and see what we are about! We are proud of what we achieve and strive to continue help all animals in need. TASA could not achieve these goals without the generous financial support from people like you.
