Trinity Animal Shelter Auxiliary (TASA) is dedicated to raising funds for the health and well being of the animals housed at the Trinity County Animal Shelter. These funds go to various things, including enhancing facilities there, supporting spay and neuter programs to make it more affordable for the public, medical bills for those that need it, and raising public awareness to humane issues and responsible pet ownership. For the last two years, due to lack of funding, our animal shelter adoption program was threatened with closure. TASA stepped in, signed an MOU with the county and contributed funds, so that our animal shelter could remain open.

TASA was established in 1994 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the welfare of the animals at the Trinity County Animal Shelter (TCAS) and in the greater community. We are 100% volunteer based and we help fund several programs for and through the shelter:

• Spay/neuter for shelter animals 
• Vouchers for spay/neuter for Trinity resident's pets
• TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) for our feral cat populations
• Education for children about animal welfare and the importance of spay/neuter
• *NEW* We will host our first low-cost, mobile spay/neuter clinic in November, partnering with Animal Balance

Our hearts are deeply embedded in helping the stray and abandoned animals that are brought into the Trinity County Animal Shelter. Many require medical assistance upon arrival - broken limbs, malnutrition, neonates and heartworm treatment are just a few examples of cases that TASA covers the costs for. We are forever thankful to our Trinity veterinarians whom offer their services at a reduced cost so that TASA can assist as many animals as possible every year.

In 2025 TASA: 

• Spayed/Neutered 22 Shelter Animals 
• Issued Spay/Neuter Vouchers for 59 Adopted Dogs & 41 Adopted Cats 
• Spay/Neutered 37 Dogs & 40 Cats for low-income families
• Spayed/Neutered 103 Feral Cats (TNR)
• Paid for the veterinary medical care of a multitude of animals at Trinity County Animal Shelter 
• Assisted the County financially to keep the Adoption Program open at the Trinity County Animal Shelter

TASA holds several fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds for the work we do. We grow each year and continue to assist more and more animals in need. We're always looking for more members so please reach out if you are interested in joining, or just come to a meeting and see what we are about!
