Hello and Good Day, The Yreka Food Bank is a 501c3 Nonprofit that has served the community for over 40 years. We serve the entire county and do not restrict food assistance based on income or living situation. Since serving the entire county we have almost doubled our service numbers. We thank everyone who has supported and donated to us over these many years. We have fought hard to maintain our history and place in the community as an organization that always puts the people first. We always strive to help where our resources guide us.

One of our biggest changes in recent memory came in June 2023 when we moved locations from the old Gold Street School because it was reopened as a school. With that move our non-food food related bills tripled but we maintained our same quality of service and resource needs. Nevertheless we kept to a set list of items that go into each back to maintain equality and fairness, and when the time called for it for larger families or families with special needs we were able to fill it in addition to the staple back items. That has made it harder to maintain what we put in each bag that goes to a client but we find a way to maintain uniformity to be fair to everyone we help. Those items that are standard for every client so no one has any less than another are listed as follows; Cereal or oatmeal, dried pasta or rice, mac & cheese, ramen, fruit, soup, beans, vegetables, pasta sauce or diced tomatoes, and Bread. One of the new ways to raise funds we started in 2024 is our Bag Sponsorship Program, other funds come through local donors and our volunteers collecting and turning recycling throughout the year.

In addition to our food assistance, we also have a clothing closet, houseware assistance cabinet, safe drinking container assistance, animal food assistance, fresh produce assistance, and we provide snacks for various other community group outreaches.

During the year we work with many groups and individuals, some of our long standing supporters are the Yreka Knights of Columbus, Yreka Boy Scout Troop #58, The Yreka SDA Church & School, the Madrone Hospice Shop, Yreka Community Garden, Life FourSquare Church, Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Red Cross, Rain Rock Casino, Great Northern Services, Tri - Counties Bank Yreka and Grenada Berean Church. In 2024 we established connections with the Howard Mason Lodge #38 of Yreka (Now Saint John’s-Fort Crook Masonic Lodge # 37), the Montague Rotary, Umpqua Bank, Yreka Certified Farmers Market, Siskiyou County Toys for Tots, Roadhouse Bar & Grill, Grocery Outlet Yreka, Walmart Yreka, Miner Street Mercantile, and more for our various outreach projects

One of our biggest collaborative partnerships we have developed in the last two years is with the Salvation Army. Starting with them participating in our Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Basket programs that we have been heading up since 2018 and supported before that for many years. With this partnership came the Tis the Season Food Drive at Tri Counties Bank, then came the return of the Kettle and Bell Ringing and for the first time locally the Angel Tree.

We as an organization/ individual volunteers also are part of various community groups those including; the Continuum of Care Homeless Coalition, Siskiyou Modoc Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, the 960697 Mill Fire Long Term Recovery Group, the Mckinney Fire Long Term Recovery Group, the Siskiyou County Branch of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program through FEMA, Salvation Army, Greenhorn Grange, Purr Angels, Ashland Lions Club, Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and Madrone Hospice.
