Hello Friends,

Last year, I was honored to step into the role of Program Manager for the Family Resource Center of Scott Valley. Serving a beautiful rural region, our Center reaches families across seven small towns, some more than an hour away. My mission is simple: to bring essential resources, education, and connection to every corner of our valley—and your support makes that possible.

We’re making thoughtful changes to better meet the needs of our community. Here’s what’s new:

Toddler Area

We are transitioning from a large toddler space to a smaller, focused play center. This will still provide a safe and enriching environment for young children, with sensory toys and early learning activities that encourage development and creativity.

Creating a Multi-Generational Hub

Our combined Senior/Teen room is now also serving as a community heating and cooling center—a vital resource during extreme weather. We envision this space as a welcoming hub where people of all ages can gather, relax, and connect. To make it comfortable and inviting, we hope to add:

  • Recliners and cozy couches for rest and conversation
  • Warm, welcoming touches to create a true community living room

Your gift will directly impact families, teens, and seniors by creating spaces that foster learning, friendship, and safety. Every dollar helps us bring these improvements to life.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about the work we do at the Family Resource Center. Your donation—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can ensure that every family in Scott Valley has access to the resources and support they need.

With gratitude,

Christine “Stina” Griffin

Dear Friend and Valued Community Member,

The holiday season begins with Thanksgiving—a time to reflect on gratitude, generosity, and the spirit of community. At the Scott Valley Family Resource Center (SVFRC), we are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve thousands of individuals, children, and families each year.

We are once again honored to participate in North State Giving Tuesday, hosted by the Community Foundation of the North State—our largest fundraising event of the year. On December 2, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, we invite you to join this global movement of giving by supporting the Scott Valley Family Resource Center. Early Giving begins November 18, 2025! Donate here: https://www.northstategives.org/organization/Scott-Valley-Family-Resource-Center

Your generosity stays local and strengthens the well-being of children, families, and seniors in the Scott Valley community.

Why Your Contribution Matters

SVFRC provides essential support, resources, and programs that uplift our community and strengthen families. Our mission is to ensure that every individual—at any age or stage of life—has access to the tools, support, and encouragement they need to thrive.

Your support fuels programs such as:

• Parenting education & child development programs • CalFresh and Medi-Cal enrollment assistance • Healthcare access, Medicare & Veterans services • Monthly literacy promotion & free children’s book distribution • Mental health prevention & family wellness programs • AARP SCSEP job training for older adults re-entering the workforce

SVFRC is a trusted community hub—helping individuals connect to resources that improve economic stability, physical and mental health, and long-term well-being.
